Hi David! I came across the condit-family.com site (again) as my mom and aunt/uncle were looking into their gravesites options today at the Poplar Hill Cemetery in Elmwood, Wisconsin.

What's significant about this cemetery is it is very small in the middle of rural Wisconsin, but we have over 30 Condits buried here (https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/88761/poplar-hill-cemetery) all the way back to William Dodd Condit, 7365 - born in Essex County, New Jersey before being one of the main pioneers of Rock Elm township coming to Wisconsin in 1850 and Rock Elm 1867. Regarding this cemetery...
• When the time comes, my father (Randall), mother (Karen), uncle (Gary), and/or aunt (Sharron) will be the 6th generation buried there.
• It is across the road from an old farmhouse (still upright) where my grandfather Elroy was born. A memory / image I'll never forget is at Elroy's burial everybody turning around to appreciate the "short time" we have here on earth and the "short distance" he traveled from birth to burial - although he was a world traveler and missionary all the same!
• It is often called the Poplar Hill Cemtery, Rock Elm Cemetery, and even Condit Cemetery from some as there are so many Condits and the residence of the house across the street was resided by Condits from time to time (I don't know many details).

There is also a very good chance there will be more generations (myself included) buried there as my own family has moved back near this Condit "hotspot" to Eau Claire, Wisconsin - where my grandfather Elroy left the farm to attend the university before moving to Des Moines IA, then back to Eau Claire to teach at the state university in town. The university was also later attended by my father, mother, aunt Sharron, my sister Lindsey, myself, and my wife Alicia (Fredricks) Condit. Kenneth G. Condit Sr. age 90 years of West Deptford passed away on Saturday February 17, 2024 in Inspira Hospital, Mullica Hill. Ken was born in East Orange, NJ and raised in the area. He was a veteran serving as a radarman on the USS Albany during the Korean Conflict and after his discharge he attended the Newark College of Engineering. After his marriage, he moved to Paulsboro for a few years and then settled in Greenfields. Ken retired after 25 years of service as a Top Operating Technician with Huntsman Polypropylene Corporation in Woodbury. In 1993 he moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida to enjoy retirement and later moved back to West Deptford in 2021 to be close to his family. He was a member of Fort Pierce Masonic Lodge #87 F. & A.M.; Ruth Chapter #7, Order of the Eastern Star; Clarksboro Masonic Lodge #87, F & A.M. and Excelsior Consistory AASR, Collingswood.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Sue Condit (nee Snyder) of West Deptford; his sons, Kenneth G. Condit Jr. (Becky) of West Deptford, Thomas R. (Vicki) of Sewell, Gary (Leilani) of West Deptford; his granddaughters, Kimberly Jane Lyons (Tim) of Sicklerville, Carin Ashley Condit of Sewell; his grandsons, Kenny R. of Turnersville (Deanna), John Ryan in the US Navy, Gabriel Matthew of West Deptford; his great granddaughters, Emmeline Lyons, Lilianna Condit; great grandson, Timothy Joseph Lyons (TJ) and his sister in law, Marlyn Kay Snyder of Florida.

He was my G-Grandfather (not through the Condit family) and his name
was most definitely spelled with a "C" -- Carl Max Emil Kessel.

Hi again David,
I knew Betty Condit and have met her daughter Harriet-Ann quite a few
times and sadly, her other daughter Barbara only once before her
untimely passing. They and their descendants have all the information
on Carl and Frida and their heritage from me and my father.
But to answer your question, neither was from Dortmund. Carl Max Emil
Kessel was from East Prussia and Frida Swoboda was from Saxony.
